On October 5-13, 1984, Canadian astronaut, Marc Garneau, becomes the first Canadian in space on mission STS-41G aboard Challenger. As a Payload Specialist, he is responsible for CANEX-1, a set of Canadian experiments. Also, on this mission, Canadarm is operated for the ninth time on a space shuttle flight.
